You deal directly with the engineers writing the code
Astoe Company is a software engineering firm run deliberately small. There is no account manager relaying your requirement to an engineer in another room, and no ticket number standing between the two. You explain the operation once, to the person who then builds it.
We engineer the software that runs the operational core of a business: what is held in stock, who owes what, which opportunity has gone cold, and whether the drawer reconciles to the report at close of trade. Sometimes that is a web platform, sometimes a mobile application, sometimes a transaction counter or a messaging automation. Usually it is two or three of those on a single database.
Most engagements replace a stack of spreadsheets that outgrew what a spreadsheet can hold, or a legacy system whose original developer is no longer contactable. Both begin the same way: documenting what actually happens in the organisation today, rather than what a previous consultant determined should happen.
We work in PHP with MySQL on infrastructure you control, with a React front end for the interface layer, plus mobile builds, messaging and AI where the requirement genuinely warrants them. The stack is selected for operational longevity, not for what was fashionable that quarter.
We are not a software product company. Nothing here is a subscription you rent, and there is no per-user fee that escalates each time you hire. Every capability on our capabilities page is engineered for the single organisation commissioning it.
We are not an agency that subcontracts delivery and applies a margin. Where an engagement requires a competency we do not hold, we say so and refer you to someone who does, which costs us the engagement and saves you a poor one.
And we are not a payment institution, a bank or a lender. Where a system we deliver accepts card payments, funds move through a licensed provider under an account in your organisation’s name. We write the integration code, nothing further.
Four principles we do not compromise, because compromising them is what causes programmes to fail
Scope before code
Nothing is built until the specification of screens, roles and business rules is documented and approved. It is an unglamorous document that prevents nearly every dispute an engagement can produce.
A single accountable lead
The engineer who designs your data model writes your interfaces and answers the phone in month six. Nothing is lost in a handover between departments.
Proven technology
Standard PHP, MySQL and JavaScript. No framework requiring an annual migration, nothing that ceases to function when a licence lapses, nothing another engineering team cannot read.
You own the result
Source code, database and accounts, all in your organisation’s name at handover. Being straightforward to leave is the only honest reason for a client to remain.
The classes of system we have delivered
Described by function rather than by client name, as most are internal systems their owners would prefer we did not advertise. Each is documented in full on the work page.
On working with us
01Where are you based, and does it matter?
We are based in Lahore, Pakistan, and deliver remotely for clients in several countries. Discovery sessions are held on WhatsApp or video call at a time that suits your working day, and the written scope ensures nothing material depends on recollection of a conversation.
02Will you execute a non-disclosure agreement?
Yes. Send yours ahead of commencement. Even in its absence, what you disclose remains confidential: we do not publish client data, and we do not cite a client as a reference without prior written consent.
03We already retain a developer. Can you work alongside them?
Frequently, and it works best where responsibility is divided by module rather than by file. We can also assume ownership of a codebase written by others, in which case the first deliverable is a candid assessment of its condition, including the finding that remediation may cost more than replacement.
04What is the position a year after handover?
The system continues running on your infrastructure, because it has no dependency on us whatsoever. When you require a change you engage us and it is quoted, or you pass the code to another team and they carry it out. Both are acceptable, and both were the purpose of transferring the source in the first place.
05What are your response times?
Same business day for anything received Monday to Saturday between 10:00 and 19:00, typically within one to two hours. During an active engagement, any issue that has halted your teams is escalated to the front of the queue.
The initial consultation carries no charge and concludes with a written scope.
Even if you never build it with us, you retain a document stating precisely what your system must do, which is more than most programmes are ever given.
